The Swiss Money Map (SMM) provides a spatial analysis of cash access points in Switzerland. We map and monitor automated teller machines (ATM), bank branch locations, and post offices in Switzerland employing an interactive dashboard. We combine these data with household and population characteristics to provide information on how far Swiss households have to travel to reach the closest cash access point. We further calculate how much time it takes to access cash. 

Our aim is to provide an analytical tool to monitor cash access points. This is particularly relevant in the era of decreasing transactional cash usage and increasing costs of cash, respectively. We therefore hope to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of optimal cash circulation.  The Swiss National Bank supports our project. This collaboration serves to ensure a holistic and ongoing review of the cash supply situation in Switzerland.
